Shrine of Saint Mary the White in Liérganes

The shrine of Saint Mary was built in the 18th century with a magnificent Baroque facade in front of the Manor House of the Miera Rubalcaba. Its location is justified by a small emblem on its wall which says the following: “IVXTA AQVAM EXALTATA ECLESIA”. Here was founded a chapel by the Captain General of New Spain, Sir Francisco de Mier y Torre, in order to facilitate the access to mass for the neighbors of Rubalcaba during winter.
