Church of Our Lady of El Carmen Bárcena in Villacarriedo

The parochial Church of Bárcena de Carriedo is dedicated to San Pedro, although it mainly celebrates the Virgin of El Carmen. This church, from the 18th century, stands out because it is large and has the bell tower with square floor. It has three naves, with an apse in the main one, and the temple access is through a rounded arch covered by a small porch.

The interior space is articulated through ribbed vaults resting on columns. It has a side chapel in which the tombs of Sir Fernando Fernández Velasco y Pérez Soñanes and of Sir Juan de Villalaz, belonging to the most notable families that have their manor house in Bárcena de Carredo are kept. Notable are the altarpiece, from mid 700s, and the venerated image of the Virgin of El Carmen.
