Mill of Rubionzo

It is usual to find in the valleys remains of pre-industrial activity, when water was the main energy source. There still are around a hundred mills in the area, mostly destined to winter corn milling. Some of these constructions, like the forge of Llerana, had their golden era between 17th and 18th centuries, before the arrival of minerals from the Basque country and light engineering.

The mill of Rubionzo, now a rural home, still has its machinery and the infrastructure around it: bridges, dams, channels, etc. A look at how the inhabitants benefited from its resources in the past.
