Church of San Juán Bautista,

Arenal de Pénagos

The parochial church of San Juan Bautista del Arenal is located at the foot of Mount Corra, on a small hill that looks over the town and the valley of Penagos. This zone is characterized for being one of the main wood producers during the golden age of the Astillero de Guarnizo ship building.

The temple, with a sun clock on its southern wall, was built in 17th c., and appears surrounded by a stone way of the cross and has a barrelled vault on the entrance. It has an altarpiece from 18th century and some paintings following the style of the Baroque school of Sevilla.
